I’m pretty positive that you have already heard of it, because every time you open up a magazine today a large portion if not the majority of the content within the magazine consists of pages of advertisements for products and/or services.

In the offline marketing and advertising world, magazine advertising is STILL a very viable advertising medium – as magazines still play a tremendous role in our mainstream culture.

However high-profile magazines tend to charge a large premium for advertising space due to the higher circulation the magazine directs. But with the advent of the internet, special types of magazines called ‘Ezines’ have online circulations that surpass that of typical offline magazines at a much more inexpensive premium.

What is an Ezine?

What I absolutely LOVE about ezines and e-newsletters is the absolute ease and convenience that ezines entail. I used to carry my favorite business and industry magazines around with me in order to read the content. However with ezines and e-newsletters, you could access the content from any computer with internet access in any part of the world at anytime!

I enjoy creating folders for my favorite ezines and e-newsletters for easy reference on my computer versus having to store and organize stacks and stacks of magazines.

The BEST part about ezines and e-newsletters is the fact that THEY ARE FREE!! You don’t have to spend a single penny on ezines and e-newsletters if you don’t want to; in addition the content is usually beneficial to you because of the massive amount of targeted marketing that ezine publishers accomplish for their subscribers.

Massive Circulation!

The circulation of an offline magazine depends on some very critical factors.

The first factor is the geographic locale the magazine covers. Generally a successful magazine should be available in all of the 50 states of the U.S. Also, the magazine must maintain the address database of their subscriber businesses and residences.

The second critical factor is the delivery postage cost involved (usually covered with the subscription cost).

The third factor is the cost to the subscriber for the monthly, quarterly or annual subscriptions.

However with a simple Ezine, the circulation only depends on one component: a confirmed opt-in email address. Ezines are always in an email format that gets sent to your email inbox – ezines are not expensive print media that must be delivered to your postal mailbox!

What’s more, an ezine publisher may choose to send your subscribed ezine to your email more than a few times a week – while traditional print magazines get snail-mailed to your place of residence once a week at most or once a month normally.

Ezine publishers get the majority of their revenue from internet marketers like you and me. They charge different fees for placing your ad in different parts of the ezine, similar to how an actual print magazine charges a fee for the use of specific pages for an advertisement.

Typically an offline print magazine charges a premium for the best spots in their magazine – the first page, the back cover, and in the middle staple fold. Ezine publishers have a similar structure:
